Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Car accident
I was involved in an accident a month ago and did not have insurance at the time. My car hit the back of another car in which was not damaged in anyway. There was no missing paint from his car nor broken lights of any sort. My left headlight and bumper has to be replaced due to the accident. No one was injured and the owner insists that I pay him $650.00. I have paid him $200 already. Can he sue me if I refuse to pay him anymore money?

Re: Car accident
It sounds like the police are not involved nor are the owner's insurance company. If the owner is asking for the money and this is a private arrangement, he may be able to take you to small claims but he would have to prove the fault and damages. You may not be at fault and he may not be able to prove damages. Call me at if you need further assistance.
