Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

case dismissed

I just recently have been wrongly

charged with battery and the case

was dismissed because the person

didn't show up on the court date.

Does this mean that they erase this

from my record for good? I have

never been criminally charged with

anything before.

Re: case dismissed

You need to file for expungement -- the charges will not be erased unless you do. Contact an attorney in your area and ask to speak with him or her about expungement.

Re: case dismissed

The arrest will remain on your record unless you take action to remove it. This process is referred to as expungement. The process in Illinois is explained at http://www.shestokas.com/Expungements.html Visit that site and if you have further questions, please feel free to call us.
