Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Changing Attorneys
We have an Attorney for my brother who is charged with murder. He has not done anything for us in the past year. A pre-trial has been scheduled. Can we fire him at this point and hire another attorney?

Re: Changing Attorneys
Your brother is free to change attorneys, generally speaking. The judge does have to allow the substitution, but particularly in a murder case, the judge is unlikely to deny such a request from your brother, in that he has a right to counsel of his choosing.
