Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

No charge

I was arrested for domestic battery but the states attorney dropeed the case and i was not charged do i have a criminal record and if there were no charges filed how do i get it removed.

There is likely a record of your arrest. To remove this you need to go to the court in the county where you were arrested. There you can request a petition to expunge and seal. This must be presented to a judge who then signs an order which must be forwarded to the relevant law enforcement agencies. You can initiate the process yourself, but it is wise to contact counsel to be certain that everything is completed properly and you achieve the results you desire.

You don't have a criminal record if you were never charged. if you wish to get your arrest record cleared, you can expunge it through the court. It does not cost much and means you get back all the paperwork from the case.
