The law does not punish the selling of controlled substance in Illinois. The law punishes the delivery of controlled substances. This includes giving someone controlled substances and/or selling someone controlled substances. You can also be charged with the intent to deliver which includes being in possession of controlled substances but the type of possession gives rise to the appearance of intent to deliver.
