Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
charges
My daugter was charge with drugs at another person house. The person house it was in admitted to the charges, but they say she is still charged. We posted 2,500 for bail in Nov 0f 2006 but they continue to post pone court until another date when she appear in court. Her public defender tells her she don't have to worry because she didn't do anything but this felony charge is on her record were it is affecting her job as well as her getting housing. I'm wondering if she can get representation to sue or something because they continue to take bail money each time they get her another date to appear.

Re: charges
Who is taking bail money? Bail is a one time payment that you should receive back (minus 10%) when the case is over. If you are putting up all of this "bail" money each time, how were you appointed the public defender? They are for people who have no money. I'd like to know who is taking your money, and if you have bail receipts for it. Please answer. This has my curiosity up.
