Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
keep charges from being filed
If a person is under investigation by the FBI, is is possible for their lawyer to talk with the U.S. Attorney that would be making the charges and keep some charges from even being filed? This does not sound right to me. Is there any real benefit that can come from having that person's lawyer negotiate with the U.S. Attorney before charges are filed. This is of course with the federal government, and the charges would have to do with child porn. Sounds like a selling tactic to me. Please let me know what you think.
