Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Chicago Disorderly Conduct Court Date

I got arrested outside a bar in Chicago for disorderly conduct. They gave me a court date for later next month, a day I was planning to be out of town. How do I change the date? Or how do I just make the whole thing go away? I have no prior offenses.

To change the date you can advance the case. If you plan on going out of state, check your bond form, most state that you cannot leave the state without court approval.

Re: Chicago Disorderly Conduct Court Date

You can go to the clerk's office at 26th & California. Ask for a motion to advance and reset the court date. There is a form for that motion. You will get a new date at which you need to appear and request the change. It is unlikely that you will be able to make the "whole thing go away" on your new court date since witnesses to your alleged offense will not be there. You may be able to resolve the case on the first date if you go with an attorney, but this could only be done by way of a guilty plea, and some type of sentence such as supervision or conditional discharge. Our firm handles cases in all Chicago courts, if you wish to talk more about your case feel free to contact us.
