Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Class 1 Felony

A friend of mine got caught with 12grams of cocaine with intent to sell and has a prior marijuana case, is there any way for probation? Or will he have to serve time, and if so what is the min/max sentence. He is being charged with a class 1 felony, has priors but has never went to prison. The case is two years old.

If your friend does not already have an attorney he or she should hire the very best criminal defense attorney he or she can afford. The state's attorney will definitley be insisting upon prison time. The statutes can tell you what the range of punishment is for the offense charged.
