Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Class X Felony

I've been arrested and held with no bond for 4 class X felonies for 10 months now. While in custody, I have been charged with sexual assault but have not been told who, what, when or where. I'm innocent of this. When I appear in court for hearings, there are new charges added, now it's aggravated kidnapping but as in the other case, I don't know who, what, when or where. I'm being represented by public defenders in 2 separate courts in Chicago. Can they do this to me? One public defender tells me to just plead guilty to the more serious crimes and won't talk to me about the cases. The other is trying to get all of these cases in one courtroom.

What can I do?

Re: Class X Felony

You are entitled to know what you are charged with and the details of the alleged crime. The one attorney that wishes to get your cases consolidated does make sense. It is usually easier to deal with various matters when there is one lawyer and one state's attorney working on the combined cases. The lawyer that is trying to do this seems to have your interests in mind. I would talk with this attorney about the details of all the cases.
