Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
class x felony sentence
my son was sentenced to a class x felony in il with an 8 year sentence. I am trying to figure out how much of that sentence he will actually end up serving. He is a diabetic, and special circumstance has been added to his sentence, that he must be placed in a prison hospital. I also have not been advised where he will be placed...how long does placement usually take?

Re: class x felony sentence
How long your son spends in prison depends on what charge he was convicted of. Some non-violent crimes he would spend only 50% of the time. Most Class X violent or drug crimes he would have to spend 85% of the time in prison.
