Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

A Company is threatening felony theft

My husband and I rented some furniture from Rent A Center, in Feb 0f this yr he lost his job. He called this store ever week and informed them of what was going on. They have on 2 separate occasions refused our payments, even though they were not the full amount, and we were behind, we still offered some type of money to them. They called today 5 times and our neighbor said that they were pounding on our door at 9:30 a.m. We called them back and for the 2nd time in 1 month, they threatened my husband with felony theft, coming to our home knocking down our door and getting their stuff. It is not like we are 6 months behind, we are only 1 month. We told them that we will pay them $150 on the 21st, they refused. My husband is starting a new job and can catch up with the payments. I am not supposed to become upset or I will land up in the hospital and we can not afford that since we have no insurance.

It is not like we have been avoiding them at all, we have been making the calls and informing them on every single move we have been making. Our nephew when he lived here, ruined the couch so we have no choice but to keep and pay for it. We need some help and fast. Thank you so much.

Re: A Company is threatening felony theft

You have to follow the load/rental agreement what does it say about what they can do if you fall behind?
