if a contract has your name typed on it, and it's not signed by you are you responcable for the loan or anything?

That depends. Did you and the lender act as if you had signed the contract? If you received the money and knew the lender was only letting you have it under the terms of your contract, then you implicitly accepted at least the obligation to pay it back. You can't get out of that obligation merely because you didn't sign the agreement.
