Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

I went to court in 2007 for a battery charge. The case was dismissed mainly bc I had no prior record. I was in a car accident in May of 2009 and was arrested on a bench warrant for the same case which I guess was reopenned. I was never notified they were looking for me to reappear due to the fact I had moved. In any any case I was unable to make the new appointed court date set when i posted bond and now they have a bench warrant out for me. I did try to contact the States Attorney about the matter and the judges secretary with no success. After the originally incident I have been on the up and up and even rehabilitated myself (freely and on my own) in a 6 month program after the originally incident. To my knowledge there were no stipulations other than court costs which I paid on the case being dismissed. Is there any chance of me being able to handle this without being put in jail? If so what is my best course of action?

There is going to be no easy answer here.

YOU NEED TO HIRE AN ATTORNEY.

An attorney can give you a clear picture of what you may be facing and what your options are. If you have a warrant from your 2007 battery case then that may be the case in chief. There must be a reason the State decided to pursue you.

You may need to pay a higher bond after turning yourself in to stay out of jail.
