Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Criminal

I was charged with sexual assault on a minor in 2002, but i was convicted of residential burglary, sentenced to 3 months in jail and served my time, then through appeals got the charge down to criminal tresspassing. All of a sudden out of nowhere, an East Dubuque detective calls me and asks me to meet him for questioning about this case that happned almost 7 years ago. I don't know what to do, if i should meet him or get a lawyer first or what. I served my time for this crime unless there trying to recharge me with the sexual assault, i don't know. What would be some good advice from a legal standpoint. Thank you!

Re: Criminal

My advice would be to hire an attorney to keep on retainer, and then decline to meet with any dectective or police officer. You must stand on your constitutional right not to make any staements about anything or answer any questions about anything.

This is an easy question. Talk to a lawyer first.
