I recently, and successfully completed court supervision. Now, I am going before the court on misd. retail theft charges. My record is limited to traffic fines. During this nightmare, I was assaulted (I am a disabled 50-year- old woman drawing SSI) and attacked by four Wal-Mart employees (one of which was a HUGE MAN,) held against my will, harassed, refused the right to speak to a manager, arrested with never being read my M. Rights, refused bail, and held in jail for 5 days! I have been told that I WILL NOT BE ALLOWED a PD, because they are not seeking jail time, and I will be heavily fined and put on court supervision for FIVE YEARS! There was so much blood at the time of the arrest (Aug 2008) the county's officers were scared of the blood contamination. I am suppose to be in court in the morning, but am still suffering from the injuries I received plus on STRONG PAIN MEDICATIONS! The court appears to be impatient! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I sincerely thank you for your time and professionalism

Never believe the police about legal matters. Most of them mislead you to scare you. You will be entitled to a PD. The sentence of supervision maxs out at 12 months except for DUIs. The fact you were not read your rights is meaningless unless you confessed you committed the crime of retail theft. The rest of your facts could be the subject of a civil rights suit later. They have no effect on your criminal trial.
