Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Criminal Statute of Any Jurisdiction
Does a traffic offense count as a criminal statute of any jurisdiction?
I'm wondering if a traffic violation will affect my court supervision conditions.
Thank you very much.

Re: Criminal Statute of Any Jurisdiction
It depends. Not all traffic violations are equivalent. Some, like driving under the influence of drugs or alocohol, are crimes. But even violations that aren't crimes may violate your terms of supervision. Such terms often require the subject to violate no laws, and that language means even a routine ticket can get you into serious trouble. Whether it actually *will* lead to more trouble depends on the situation, but it is a risk.
Good luck.
