Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Damage to Personal Property

My ex-boyfriend and I both damaged each others vehicles. He called the police on me and broke my cell phone so I could not call on him. We both received tickets but I am not sure what his was for.How should I go about this? Should I go get an estimate on the damages that I have on my vehicle and then go file a complaint on him? Also, I agreed to pay for his damages but I think he is liable for my damages as well. Should I have a lawyer with me when I attend court? Please help...

Re: Damage to Personal Property

You always need a lawyer when you go to court. The prosecuter is a lawyer, and he's there to convict you not help you. When you agreed to pay for your ex-boyfriend's damages you in essence admitted you commited the crime. Do yourself a favor and call an experienced criminal defense lawyer. I have been a criminal defense lawyer for 28 years. Please call for a free consultation.
