Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I have been dating the same guy for seven years. He is an older guy...i am 40 he is over 65 but i moved from up north two years ago and he told me he would hold my furniture instead of me paying storage. i gave his fifty dollars a month, and paid for two years. now i want my furniture and he says he placed it in a friend's house who he can't find. i still have some of my receipts which i had a futon from milwaukee that was 300 dollars. for the matress alone. i had a sleep apenea machine and other items of value. he acts as if its nothing saying...he will have to spend time away from me to find the guy- as if i care..i tell him to take all the time he needs. i never told him to put my stuff there, and i do not know this guy. he can't even give me much more than an old address. what should i do? i worked hard for my things which is why i tried to buy the best. my computer desk which was glass and iron is gone also. please respond, i need your help

If the total value of your furniture and appliances was less than $10,000 you should sue your friend in small claims court demanding return of the items or their fair market value. You have a bailor/bailee relationship for consideration. So your friend is held to the highest standard of care for safe keeping your property.
