Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Dating with a parent consent form

My daughter is 15 and her boyfriend just turned 18. How do i legalize this so that there is no problems? My daughter will be 16 this August. I told them both to just be friends until i can figure this out. Can i make or get a consent form so it would be okay for them to date?

Re: Dating with a parent consent form

As a parent, you cannot "consent" your way out of the law, whether it is a good law or a bad law. I'm not sure where you have come up with such an idea. If they happen to become intimate, your daughter's boyfriend could be charged with sexual assault of a child, go to jail and be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life - meaning, limited job opportunities, places he can live, work, or even be present.

Show this response to your daughter and her boyfriend. They both need to be made aware of the potential outcome.
