Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

deferred adjudications dental school

Hello,

I am extremely scared and desperately need help. I have been accepted to dental school in Illinois and need to do a criminal background check. It spans 7 years.

In January 2002 I was arrested for marijuana charges and was given supervision. In January 2003 my sentence was terminated satisfactorily. I was also 17 when this happened. I visited my local clerk public information page to get this information.

The background check will show convictions and deferred adjudications; I'm concerned that this will show as a deferred adjudications.

If a background check goes back 7 years it will go back to August 2002 (so after sentance made to go to supervision and before terminated). What do you suggest I do? I have to turn in the background check very soon.

Thank you so much

You are eligible to expunge the supervision after 5 years. My advice is to expunge your record.
