Domestic Battery

I tried to ask for a public defender, I had a job at the time and now am currently unemployed, was wondering if I am able to represent myself or do I need an attorney??

If you were to need surgery would you operate on yourself? Of course you need an attorney. You don't have the knowledge of the law, procedure, evidence, or trial tactics to represent yourself. Abraham Lincoln once said "He who has himself for a lawyer has a fool for a client." Get yorself an experienced criminal defense lawyer.

If you were previously denied a public defender, you might want to try again. You may be eligible now due to your change in circumstances.

Regarding your changed circumstances, you should request the judge revisit the issue of a public defender. You may now qualify when you did not before.
