Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Drug dealing
A friend of mine was caught with 6 ounces of cocaine selling to a cop. He is a 24 year old, not married, no previous problems with the law, has a job, and is a army reserved. He made a huge mistake. What should he expect and what can he do???????

Re: Drug dealing
Your friend should hire an attorney immediately. If he or she is located in any of the counties near St. Louis, I would be glad to give him or her a free telephone consultation at 314-727-2822.
Re: Drug dealing
He is almost certainly charged with both delivery and possession of a controlled substance with intent. If he was within 1000 feet of a school, the State may charge him with that as well. The delivery is punishable by 9 to 40 years in jail with fines. This is very serious. He needs an attorney ASAP. Feel free to call us for a free consultation.
Re: Drug dealing
He will need an attorney to try to help him deal with this. An attorney would try to get a lesser plea or otherwise. The penalties can be harsh. I would not suggest he represent himself.
