Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Expungement question
I got a info packet about how to expunge a charge without an attorney. When I spoke to the circuit clerks office they told me I had to hire an attorney. Is this true? Why would the information I received from the office of the state Appellate Defender tell me it can be done?

Re: Expungement question
You can file the documents on your own behalf. Some people wish to have an attorney to make sure things go smoothly, but if you wish, there is no legal requirement for you to have a lawyer. For more information, please visit:
