Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
expungment
I was arrested in 2004 for a warrant on retail theft for failure to complete S.W.A.P. How long do i have to wait to get my record expunged? It's the only case i have in my life. Because it's very hard for me to get a job to take care of my family.

Re: expungment
Since you had SWAP, there was some sort of disposition. Usually, when a person violates SWAP, the court gives the offender a conviction. If you had supervision for retail theft, you may expunge the supervision 5 years after the end of the successful completion of supervision. You can't expunge a conviction such as conditional discharge, or probation.
