Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I have a family member who is verbally threatening me over the phone and has attempted to get me to come to the door of my home. I would like to know on what grounds do I have to file charges as well as restraining orders. I have the threats on CD. However this person is affiliated with police and has tried to use that influence against me as well. So what can I do to protect myself and family?

Hello. I suggests that you obtain a civil order of protection against this family member immediately. You should retain a private attorney to represent you. The route of a civil order of protection should bypass your relative's influences on the police force. Act quickly. Time is of the essence.
