Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Felony Advice
My son was arrested for possession in Nov 04.Was released on bond,he was appearing at every court date.In July 13, 05,my son was asked by a Judge for a random urine and failed. He has been in the county jail since. While in county, other charges have been brought up(delivery). He tries to talk to his public defender but, never gets any information(ie.evidence,etc.)I have spoken to the PD and she tells me she knows nothing. The State's Attorney has not given her any information. I am at a loss. Is it to late to hire a private lawyer? I would like to hire an attorney, but can not afford one. Can anyone give me advice on what my son can do for legal counsel.I am willing to make payments. Also based on what little I have told you, how good of an outlook does he have. The only other legal matters pending are traffic(suspension). He has never been in trouble before. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Always remember, you get what you pay for. You are paying the PD nothing and you're getting nothing in return. I don't have enough information to assess your son's cases. However, I do take payments with a retainer. Please call at 773-237-3516
Re: Felony Advice
Although there are many good lawyers in the PD's office, they are often overwhelmed by the case load. If you son indeed has no background, there are many possible ways to conclude his case favorably. It is not to late to retain private counsel. It is something you should seriously consider. If you wish to speak to the attorney in our firm that concentrates in this area, feel free to speak with William Raines at 312-719-5959. The initial consultation is without charge.
Re: Felony Advice
Hello. I certainly suggests that you take steps
to hire a private attorney. The Office of the
P.D. is overflowing with cases and many times it
just cannot keep up. The State's Attorney's office is concerned with convictions. Therefore,
that office is probably not going to give you
straight answers. At this stage of your son's
case certain very important motions need to be
filed and presented. Time is of the essence.
I will be happy to answer any additional questions that you might have.
