Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Forgery of Contracts
I was an idiot and forged several sales contracts for a former employer - total value approx. $7,000. I just got a call from a local police detective about the matter and wonder what I am looking at here?

Re: Forgery of Contracts
You are looking at serious felony charges that could result in many years of incarceration., That's what you are looking at! Do not talk to any detectives or law enforcement people. If taken into custody and questioned, you can politely give your name and address and then decline to answer any further questions based upon advice of legal counsel. If they are going to charge you, nothing you can say will help you. If they haven't decided to charge you yet, nothing you can say can help you. Talking will only work against you! You have a Constitutional right to remain silent. Use it! Also, you should hire the very best criminal defense attorney you can afford starting right now!

Forgery is a Class 3 felony carrying 2 to 5 years in prison. DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE WITHOUT A LAWYER. Please call for a free consultation.
Re: Forgery of Contracts
Forgery carries up to 5 years in prison. While not knowing further details of the activity it is difficult to really say what the potential charges against you may be. However, it is not in your best interest to speak with the police without counsel. Often people feel that they can explain away their activities. These explanations can and often are used against them. Re: Forgery of Contracts
Do not provide a statement to the detective. The 5th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution affords you this protection. Hire an attorney at once.
Kindly call should you wish to discuss.
