Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Forgery

I have been ordered to appear in court because of a forged prescription. This is my first legal offense with the law. What are my chances of not going to jail?

Re: Forgery

Your chances of avoiding jail are very good if you hire the very best criminal defense attorney you can afford. Your attorney may be able to sucessfully defend you, or may be able to negotiate a plea bargain on your behalf. This is not something you want to go through without an attorney. You may call me for a free consultation if you are not already represented.

Re: Forgery

This is at least a class 4 felony with up to 3 years in prison. If it is your first offense you may have a chance at probation. If you were involved in this because of a personal drug issue you may have a chance for a special type of probation that would allow you to have this ultimately removed from your record. It would be wise to consult an attorney.
