friend arrested Chicago,Il

he was intoxicated, was tricked to get a bag for a person who said it was his,

but wasn't. he was arrested and charged with a felony(a gun was in the bag). he did not know that at the time.

The short answer is your friend needs an attorney. Unlawful Use of a Weapon is the likely charge and that is a Class 4 felony carrying up to 3 years in prison. There is a knowledge requirement to the crime and if there is credible information that he did not knowlingly possess a gun he may have a good defense.
