Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

So me and my friend are out drinking and we walk to another bar. At this bar they do not let my friend in because his ex girlfriend works there, and they do not want him in there. So on the way out I Punch a small hole in a very cheat screen door, and we leave. later I found out that they called the cops and now the cop are trying to find out who I am. with that being said no one that worked there saw me do this some guy i know who was also drinking that night saw me and told them it was me. now I'm not trying to run from this I will pay for the door but I don't want to get arrested for this what should I do...thank you for your time

It may be too late. You committed vandalism. However, you might want to send them a money order or a visa gift card for the cost of repair and some extra for the inconvenience. and maybe it will go away.
