Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

My friend is under indictment

Is it possible for probation or a lighter sentence? Another friend got caught with him and I think she's telling. They don't have much on him except stuff that involves the other friend.

Re: My friend is under indictment

Not enough information. Different crimes carries different penalties. Some carry mandatory prison time, some don't. So I would need to know what your friend is charged with. Does he have any prior convictions? What county is he charged in? Is it a State or Federal indictment? You left a lot out, and I can't answer until I have those facts.
