Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

grand theft auto ?

I droped off a friend to pick up his car at a repair shop, and waited for him to come out. Then he followed me home to make sure he made it without breaking down. Now the repair shop says that he stole it, without paying. Even though they had his check that he wanted them to cash. If i go to court and tell them I gave him a ride to the shop, am I going to be considered an accomplice or an accessory ?

He wants me to go in court and tell them I dropped him off. I worry that if I tell them that, will I be admitting in court that I did something unknowingly, that was against the law !

Re: grand theft auto ?

Personally i think you are ok based on only what you are telling me and without getting involved in the case further. However, if you feel like you are being accused of something then i recomend that you dont make any statements.
