Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

My husband crashed his truck into a tree coming down a gravel road while it was raining in June. He was the only individual involved in the accident. He was driving on a revoked license and didn't report the accident right away but did a few weeks later for insurance purposes. Somehow the courts upgraded this to a felony traffic case (giving him no explanation as to why). On Oct. 23 he accidentally missed his court date thinking it was on the 28th (partially my fault as I thought it was the 28th as well). Since the case was being held in a county with only one PD he was unable to get ahold of his PD to vacate the warrant although he called the local police department and courthouse who both told him to continue to try to get ahold of his PD. We still cannot get ahold of the PD.

He now has a warrant for his arrest and a bond of 15,000 dollars (as we read on the online court records) and we have no idea what to do! We can't afford for him to go to jail and we there's no way we could afford $1500 for bail. Help!

I recommend you hire a private defense attorney.

I usually charge $150 - $175 an hour for court appearances of this nature. Look for local counsel.

You may be able to find someone on Craigslist locally under the "legal services" section who is local
