Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
My husband was incarcerated in june of 2008 he got sentenced 6 1/2 years on a sex offense his projected parole date said dec 2013 but now online it says 3 years to life to be determined what does that mean and why has it changed

Absent his having picked up some new charge while inside, it sounds like they are going to consider him a candidate for a sexually dangerous person Act hearing, which is done to determine whether he will be released into society on his current set release date. This is done through a quasi civil type of statute which allows the State to further detain someone after they complete their sentence because they are considered a sexually dangerous person under the law. Please consult his attorney or PD and/or prison counselor for any additional information on this Act too. If you do not have an attorney, I would be happy to speak with you further too. Best of luck.
