Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
Incomplete Court Complaint
My pink court complain paper was never
signed by the arresting officer. My
buddy, who was also arrested, had the
same piece of paper signed. It also
stated I was 49 years old, not 19. Is
there hope for dismissal?

Re: Incomplete Court Complaint
I suppose that there is always "hope for dismissal", but you haven't given us any reason to think that the charge against you, whatever it is, will be dismissed. The officer can always sign the complaint against you, and the fact that your copy is not signed is not a defense to any crime of which I am aware. Cops make mistakes on the paperwork, such as your age being wrong, all of the time, but these mistakes seldom if ever negate any essential element and result in dismissal. You just need to hire an attorney and tell your attorney the whole truth about whatever happened. Then the attorney will advise you further. If you do not have an attorney, you may call me for a free telephone consultation.

Unlikely. Hire an attorney.
