Can a judge prosecute a defendant that he was a former prosecuting attorney for in the state of Illinois?

Let's look at your question. "Can a judge prosecute. . ."
The answere is "No". A judge can not prosecute. If you intended to ask whether a judge would be disqualified because he previously acted as State's Attorney in a case against you, then the response would be different. Talk to your attorney, and if you don't have one, hore one!
