Re: Judgement papers
In the first place, your question was posted under the heading "Criminal Law", and this is not a criminal matter. It is civil. You must appear at your court date or hire an attorney to do so on your behalf. If you fail to appear, the creditor will take a default judgment against you which will be permanently entered on your credit report. Then, even if you made some kind of oral deal with a collection agency the creditor will be able to garnish your wages, garnish your bank account, execute upon your motor vehicles and collect the entire amount due plus court costs and attorney's fees. If you go to court on your won, ask for a continuance and tehn hire an attorney. The attorney should be able to save you more money than he or she costs you. Good luck! P.S. there is no "e" in the middle of the word "Judgment."
