Can jury trial proceed at the same time as pre-trial?

Normally these are separate phases - pre-trials are typically convened to hear motions about things like how the trial may be conducted, what evidence will be allowed or not, and what have you, but since you offer no detail it is ultimately impossible to say, depending on the kind of case you're talking about.
