Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
juvenile arrested for retail theft
My 16 year old daughter was arrested for retail theft. They said it added up to 187.00 but she is being charged with a felony. Everyone says this is wrong. She never received any papers or documents from the court regarding anything and I am unsure of who to contact. Do you think I need a lawyer. This is her first offense. She has never been in any trouble before. Thank you

Hello -
You definitely need a lawyer.
Since they are charging your
daughter with a felony, the
prosecutor is apparently
calculating the items to
be in excess of a value of
$300. Get a lawyer immedi-
ately.
