What kind of sentence gets handed down for federal mail fraud?

If a person plead guilty to federal mail fraud like say in the Chicago Hired Truck scandal what kind of sentence do you think would be handed down?

Re: What kind of sentence gets handed down for federal mail fraud?

Hello. There are Federal sentencing guidelines

that the federal judges follow. However, there

have been some changes. The sentence could be

in excess of ten years in my opinion. In my

opinion, pleading guilty right away is not the

best approach. There are steps that should be

followed such as preliminary motions. These

motions are for three reasons: 1. The case

could be thrown out of court on a technicality,

2. the motions permit the defendant to see what

type of a case the prosecutor has, and 3. the

accused person may want to go to trial. I will

be happy to answer any additional questions that

you might have.
