Re: Larceny

The amount of money involved means you may be charged with a felony. While restitution is important you should contact an attorney prior to doing anything else about your case, because certain acts, even with the best of intentions can be used against you in a criminal matter. This is potentially a case with up to 3 years in prison (as you describe it), and you should have competent advice in your decision processes. If you are in northern Illinois our firm may be able to assist you. Please reply by e-mail if you have further questions.

Re: Larceny

It is understandable that you are scared. I hope that you have a competent attorney representing you. It is possible depending upon various factors that you might receive some plea bargain which would allow you to avoid incarceration. In almost every case restitution is required. That is, you will have to pay the money back. But, that will not make the case go away. It is now 'The People of the State of Illinois" against you, not your former employer against you. Please follow your attorney's advice and I wish you the best of luck.
