Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
leaving state
I was arrested two days for shoplifting. I have a court date in two weeks for it. However I supposed to be leaving the state to visit family for the holiday before that. Is there anyway I can leave the state before my court date? I live in Illinois.

With a court date set, you are out on bail. It will be a violation of your bail if you leave the state without permission of the court. Hire a lawyer and ask him how to get that permission.
Re: leaving state
Are you out on bond? if so, it may be a violation of the conditions of your bond for you to leave the state. If not, then I believe that it woudl be safe for you to visit your family so long as you do not miss your first court date. By the way, with charges such as these, you should definitely hire the best criminal defense attorney you can afford.
