Is it legal to give a parent (who is not a prohibited person), but is proving you financial support while you are at university, a firearm as a gift?

You need to have a valid FOID card in Illinois to own a firearm, first and foremost.
Then any transfer or sale of a firearm would have to be done according to Illinois law, if that is the State where this hypothetical question would occur.
