Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

Letter to avoid jail time

I am possibly facing a 30-day sentence for a felony. I have no past police record of any type before this and was told that I should make a personal statement or letter telling about the good things that I do or have done to help avoid this jail time. What is such a letter called and how can I get some tips on writing this. I want this to make a good impression and have no experience in legal matters.

This is to reduce the possible sentence and would be after pleading guilty based on the prosecutions offer of a deal.

You need to discuss this with your defense attorney.
