Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
We live in Illinois. Our son and a friend who were both minors entered a neighbors house and took some money. They later returned it and our neighbors told the authorities they did not want to press charges. Now almost two years later, the neighbor came to our house and is threatening to press charges. Can they change their mind two years later and press charges after they told the police they didn't want to.

It is unlikely that the authorities will pursue this two years later and after you neighbor told the authorities not to press charges that long ago.
