Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
loan forging and fraud
My girlfriend's ex has signed her
name to several loan applications,
making her the co-signer. Recently,
we figured this out, and now her
credit is going down the tube. Is
there anything that can be done?
How do you prove that she never
signed the original? Can she sue
both the ex, and the bank for
allowing him to sign her name?

Re: loan forging and fraud
If you are interested in the ex being investigated criminally, call the police and see if they will investigate the case. If the police are able to gather enough evidence for a criminal prosecution, they will forward the case to the state's attorney for prosecution.
The state crime lab can do handwriting analysis to try and determine who signed what.
When you sue someone, that is a civil case. This question is posted in the criminal law category and I am not going to address civil law questions here.
