Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois

molestation and abuse towards a minor

If I am requested to take a lie-detector test, should I do so without contacting an attorney? This allegation was made from a ward of the state (foster-child). Once proven innocent, will I be able to press charges towards the minor?

Re: molestation and abuse towards a minor

Hello. I advise you not to take a lie-detector test before talking to a lawyer. You cannot be forced to take a lie-detector test and you have a right to remain silent. It is important to remember that under the law you are innocent until proven guilty. Pressing charges against the minor in this situation would not be allowed. It would be viewed as being against public policy. The law encourages the reporting of abuse against children.

Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
