Legal Question in Criminal Law in Illinois
I need to know about what is the penalty for cashing someone elses Social Security checks. I was in prison and my soon to be ex husband told me my social secutity checks stopped coming. apon release I went up to restart it and was told I owe them back for 3 checks while in prison and the checks they send my kids. My ex signed them and cashed them is that legal and now I paying for them what can be done about this?

Cashing someone else's checks is a federal offense. You can report him to the Social Security administration, but need to consider the consequences to you and your kids.
