Petition to Revoke

My friend missed a court appearance for which he was on court supervision. He was stopped on a traffic matter and there was a warrant for which he was held in custody overnight. Now there is a petition to revoke in the near future. If the fines are paid in full, is there a chance he will not get a jail sentence?

If the petition only alleges non-payment, then paying off what he owes the court will likely result in the petition being withdrawn. But, if other variables are in play, it is hard to say what an outcome may be without knowing the facts of the case, the judge hearing the case, etc. Regardless, it is a very good idea to go ahead an pay off his debt to the court. It can't hurt and may help.

In many cases it is possible to prevent the revocation. Your friend would need to consult with an attorney and share all of the facts in detail before an attorney could provide any specific advice.
